SCA´s new container port in Sundsvall is now operational. While the area is more than adequate, even more investment is planned to further increase the available space behind the quay.

“Eventually we will have an additional 90,000 square metres of land, offering fantastic opportunities, says SCA Logistics Sales Manager Jonas Nilsson.

The port currently has one container yard with an area of 24,000 square metres and an annual capacity of 100,000 twenty-foot equivalent units (TEUs). But this is only the beginning. An additional 30,000 square metres of logistics space will be operational by the autumn, with a further 60,000 square metres to be added.
“We have built an embankment around an area on the edge of the port that will gradually be filled to form a storage area,” explains Jonas.
These large spaces create new opportunities.
“The port will be perfect even for enormous projects and will be able to handle various types of special cargoes. We will also be able to offer more storage both indoors and out. Space is in short supply in many ports, so this is a long-awaited development for many people,” says Jonas.
