SCA works actively to make use of the entire tree and all parts of residual streams. The most valuable part of the tree is refined in the sawmills into wooden products. Some of these become window components, painted panels or shelves. Just over half of the log becomes solid wood products. The rest becomes wood chips for pulp production or shavings that are processed into pellets. The bark is used for energy production.

When cross-country skiing sprint champion Jonna Sundling was growing up in the small village of Tvärålund outside Umeå, the forest was her own domain. Skiing was something she did for fun with her friends and gold medals were beyond her dreams back then.

In several ways the forest industry underpins the Swedish economy and climate policy. We are one of the world’s largest exporters of pulp, paper and sawn timber, contributing to employment throughout Sweden and global climate benefit.
Right now you can read about increased freight traffic with breakbulk vessels in connection with port expansion and increased cargo capacity. This is in SCA's port in Sundsvall, one of our terminals.
