SCA works actively to make use of the entire tree and all parts of residual streams. The most valuable part of the tree is refined in the sawmills into wooden products. Some of these become window components, painted panels or shelves. Just over half of the log becomes solid wood products. The rest becomes wood chips for pulp production or shavings that are processed into pellets. The bark is used for energy production.

Major initiative for emission-free workplaces in forestry
Creating emission-free workplaces in Sweden’s forestry is a crucial part of the forestry industry's efforts to contribute to the climate transition. SCA, along with parts of the forestry sector, is now collaborating with Komatsu Forest, Luleå University of Technology, the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences, and the Forestry Technical Cluster to tackle the challenge.
100 million seedlings from SCA in 2024
2024 was yet another year of high seedling deliveries from SCA. Nearly 100 million seedlings were delivered to private forest owners and SCA's own forests. "It feels good to be able to contribute with seedlings of high quality that provide good growth in Sweden's forests, and thus significant climate benefits," says Thomas Vestman, head of NorrPlant.
